PS Susan Mang'eni at Ndumberi Diary Cooperative for Business Development Training

PS Susan Mang’eni visited the Business Development Skills Training for members of the Ndumberi Dairy Cooperative and Limuru Dairy Cooperative Society in Kiambu County, under the Kenya Jobs & Economic Transformation (KJET) Project.

The dairy industry, which accounts for over 4% of Kenya's GDP, is still one of the country's top value chains under BETA. Dairy farmers and cooperatives gained the skills necessary to boost productivity, strengthen competitiveness, and draw in more private sector investment thanks to the Business Development Skills Training.

Given that 77% of young people in Kenya make their living from MSMEs, PS Mang'eni urged the recipients to use the knowledge they had acquired to increase the productivity and competitiveness of their farms and cooperatives and provide more opportunities for young people.

PS Mang’eni further challenged the farmers to look beyond local markets and position themselves to tap into export opportunities across the East African region, home to over 300 million consumers as well as continental markets available through the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
